Didn't hate it outright, didn't love it. Not the worst Star Trek movie. Not the worst or best action movie on its own. Enemy plot holes are still working their way though my mind.

I just wish Kirk and Spock had good-enemy chemistry right off the bat. They made them advisory with out any kind of feeling or actual confrontation. I think it should of had Kirk taking the "no-win" more seriously then he did (just for show) while he cheated. Then having Spock have to work had to find out how. You know get them all involved in each others shit and then have them get all chummy. have them really not get along. Instead of this "guy who designed the test i cheated and have sort of disagreed with (but not really) in the last 15 minutes of the movie" is my best friend in the alternate future have a little more umph. I'm not saying outright slash them, but you know story clinches: best friends are best to turn into enemies and enemies are best when turned into friend. Spock and kirk seemed like they went from cool to luke warm.

I thought it was perfect - mostly because Kirk had already taken the test two times off-screen and failed. So him munching away on his apple being an obnoxious ass about it, was fine by me. Actually I had more of a problem with him being suspended because he hacked the test, he already took twice in earnest. But without the Vulcan crisis this would have been sorted out quickly I think. Plus they had bigger problems by their second interaction -

And yes, I might have been madly in love with this movie and this angrier and younger Spock. And I might have consumed unhealthy amounts of fanfics by now, but that was to be expected. A new fandom is so much fun.

I had no problem with angier Spock, but i had issues with Kirk acting like an ass and then surprised he's being investigated.

Yeah, his surprise was a bit over the top , because he must have seen that investigation coming since the first time he thought about changing the scenario. But yeah, I really enjoyed this movie completely.
