Well, finally you posted it! I love it every bit as much as I did when you showed me that earlier version. I found watching it again that I still love it for the emotional impact it has as much as for how pretty it is.

Well i told you back then that i put so much time in it i grew to hate it and couldn't do those last minute fixes. Also now that the time had past i liked the story i put together. And i'm glad you still loved it and you are so responsible for the pretty. those plugins are god.

Now back to my Doctor Who/Firefly fic.

very cool xandra. im taking my good ol time with the xfiles, but i have to say i think i enjoy your vids as much as the tv show. its like a snippit of all the moments that will probably be my favorite once i see them, all wrapped up in a sweet emotional little present.

Thanks Jessie. X-Files was my first vidding fandom, its good to get back to it. Actually some of the moments i enjoy better without context. LOL.

Like Charmax said the emotional impact this babe has is beyond my wildest dreams of how fucked up Mulders life became during the show run. I so love the fact that you build up to what prize Mulder’s quest had for him and his dysfunctional family, that letting go of Samantha cost him pretty much everything. His reputation, his father and to an extent his relationship to his mom and the whole dangerous world that closes in on him, ready to get the best of him. His hope, his believe and his trust. The way the different characters come out and make an appearance at all the right places, gives this video such an amazing feeling of completeness.

The way you told Samantha’s story and so that her different shapes and back grounds actually make sense, something the show lost, but which I love here. You really made the memory and Mulder’s longing for closure a tangible thing. Beautiful, razor-sharp cutting and ugly when he is confronted with the knowledge that he has to let her go. And the way she is slipping out of his fingers, Scully is storming into his life.

This isn’t about simple love, but the entire yin yang that made their love to such sight of utter beauty. He is so completely lost without his soul mate kicking his ass if necessary and the touchstone Scully is for him comes through so damn wonderful. You made me love Mulder more with this video and this from someone who didn’t think that was possible. Plus I adore how your colours turned out and your whole take on the effects through the video, you enhanced the mood to an extreme without distracting in the slightes. Wonderful job, my love! And you really don’t need to hate it anymore – it’s so pretty and shiny!

I realize fully I am incredibly late to this party (though I do remember commenting on your post for this vid over at [livejournal.com profile] vidding -- I think? It was either there or another vidding community), but I just had one question to ask about it.

I don't mean to be a bother in any way since I've already gushed about this video (it really is one of my favorite XF fanvids), but one thing I've noticed is that you somehow found a way around the varying aspect ratios issue! Basically, I'm just curious what editing software you use to navigate around this problem, because I can't recall ever seeing another vid that managed to incorporate clips not only from all the seasons, but also the movie (which is of course anamorphic, so it often comes out looking stretched) in an all-inclusive size.

I'm attempting to fanvid myself at the moment, and I'd love any insight you might have to offer on how to work around this ever-present nuisance that comes with XF footage. Thanks very much in advance for any help you might give, and thank you again for sharing this wonderful video. :)

lol. i use Adobe Premiere. And yeah the Aspect Ratio was kinda a bitch to work around. Basically i committed to the 16:9 ratio and worked with the 4:3 and movie clips to and adjusted them to fill the window in ratio...

did that make sense? well the reason why 4:3 is grainer is because of the change. If you watch the original footage you'll notice how much gets cut off. You noticed alot of "tops of heads" are slightly cut off. With the Movie it was much simpler. I just made sure what i wanted was showing.

Sorry i'm bad at explaining. I'm a sucker for everything to look right and kinda obessive about it. What program do you use?

That sounds like the best idea to me (committing to 16:9, that is; I've always preferred the look of it to 4:3). I did guess, from the look of the video, that you manipulated the non-16:9 footage to fill the frame properly, I'm just unsure of which programs you can accomplish that with.

At the moment, all I've got available to me is Windows Movie Maker, which I understand is very limited (and I doubt I could get around this issue with it). However, a friend of mine who works at a software retailer might be able to get me a copy of Adobre Premiere for much less than what it usually goes for. Do you consider it worth the pricetag, capability-wise (and which version do you use, if you don't mind my asking)?

Adobe premiere pro 2.0, i have cs3 but i haven't transitioned over yet.

yeah wmm doesn't give you much custom room to the point were i can't even try to use it anymore. And it all depends on you and how far you wanna go with the vids and editing.

I'm generally not much into adding too many effects and whatnot; I'm more interested in a program that won't crash all the time (like WMM tends to do) and that can allow me to tweak aspect ratio.

It's more likely I'll be able to get ahold of Adobe Premiere Elements (which, if past Photoshop nomenclature and my bit of research holds, means it's a more limited version of the Pro line), which I'm hoping will be able to at least do that much.

you know i never worked with Premiere Elements but from what it seems like it might be just want you would want. and its so much easier to clip, clips . Probably a good choice.

Awesome, thank you very much! Most likely, I'll go with that -- I don't need anything too fancy, and it sounds just about right for me. And thanks again for your time and the helpful info. :)

I just realized I never commented on this video! I got here through [livejournal.com profile] leucocrystal's memories and I'm now putting together a post of my favorite videos from all my fandoms and I'm linking to you. I love the dreamy blue effect you used to make the images blend together. I also have to say, I'm more of a Scullyist, but this video continues to grow on me each time I watch and it's given me a new appreciation of Mulder's journey.

Thanks for sharing it with the world!
