This is what I described to my dear and wonderful charmax as part 2 of my “I hate-love the Doctor and he kinda did-didn’t screw up- my life! But now its time to move on.” series. Thank you Char for all your help.

Summary: Jack POV. He wants to know why he was left behind, as he tries to live his life.

I've had the sneaking suspicion lately that Ten is an asshat (especially since he no longer has Rose to keep him in check). This vid and your Martha once seem to confirm that for me. (Yay!?)

See I think he uses Rose as an excuse to be an asshole. He doesn't want to let anyone in again but he wants others who are dedicated to him.

And having nothing to do with Jack at the moment i kept feeling like he was pissed at Martha cause she didn't need to be 'saved' like Rose did. Martha just needed a break from her life. And frankly she kept saving him or taking care of him more than Rose seemed to have. And I'm not Rose bashing, it was just in season two there was always that point in the episode (pre-satan's pit) where she would say "the doctor will save me" that made me want him not too lol.

What I meant was that Rose served as Ten's moral compass. She was the only one to whom he would listen and who could keep his cruelty in check. He's not *willing* to listen to anyone else--even though he really should. Donna said something to that effect in TRB. (I can't remember the exact line, since I haven't rewatched that episode!)

I hope that Season Three was actually the first part of a two-season arc, which will lead to Ten redeeming himself.

In the meantime, Ten still = asshat.

lol... i tend to get ahead of myself.

I just didn't find him to be as much as an ass i did this season. But his slightly evil side did start coming out after 1x13. Frankly i think it has to do with the Tardis energy that he absorbed from Rose. Remember saying if a Timelord looked into the heart of the TARDIS he would turn into a Vengeful God. i think he says it to Jack 3x11.

This is perhaps the most introspective look at Jack and his issues that I've seen so far. Probably because you include Torchwood as well as DW, and the story just speaks for itself. Wonderful editing and wonderful storytelling. :)
